University governance measures

MUST ensures the participation of local stakeholders in decision-making through diverse participation mechanisms, including professionals from various fields, outstanding local representatives, and representatives with social contributions. This is to ensure that local opinions and needs are fully considered and reflected, and to promote close connections and common development between the university and the community. (For more details, please see https://www.must.edu.mo/page/intro.html).        In the published staff handbook, MUST emphasizes the relevant principles regarding corruption and bribery and requires employees to make a commitment to strict compliance.   • External Local Stakeholder Engagement

1. Positioning
Establish regular cooperation networks with government departments, industries, academic institutions, and community organizations to support regional sustainable development and industry-academia-research collaboration.

2. Goals:

  • Precisely align needs and scenarios

  • Formulate implementable technical and policy solutions

  • Promote demonstration and diffusion of outcomes

3. Representative Cooperation
Conducted carbon management research with 24 stakeholders, completing questionnaires + expert interviews + data verification according to the process, outputting carbon reduction recommendations, filling the research gap in carbon management within Macau's higher education institutions.

In terms of industry-academia-research integration, the University has jointly established a clinical teaching center with Zhuhai People's Hospital, collaborated with HEC Group on innovative drug research and development, and established joint laboratories with multiple technology companies, achieving full-chain cooperation from basic research to industrial application.

The University is deeply involved in the construction of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, establishing R&D centers in fields such as traditional Chinese medicine, integrated circuits, and advanced materials, contributing to Macau's moderate economic diversification. At the same time, the University cooperated with the International Data Spaces Association to build the "Macao-Hengqin Data Hub Station," promoting the development of cross-border data flow standards and providing technical support for Guangdong-Macao integrated development.

  • Local Stakeholder Participation in Decision-Making

The University has established comprehensive social communication channels to promptly solicit and implement suggestions and opinions from all sectors, building good cooperative partnerships with all stakeholders. It strengthens relationships with the government, renowned domestic and international universities, enterprises, associations, and alumni, jointly enhancing the University's influence and reputation in various fields, and cooperating for development.

Working with government

Macau University of Science and Technology advocates academic freedom and freedom of speech. It supports faculty and students to freely express their views in teaching and research. It promotes the expression and interaction of diverse views by organizing public lectures, seminars, and discussions, as well as by establishing student associations and organizations.

  • Integrity and Anti-Corruption Compliance|Principles and Practices

Position: The University maintains a zero-tolerance stance towards corruption and requires staff to adhere to integrity and ethical conduct.

Internal System: The "Staff Handbook" contains specific provisions regarding staff code of conduct and ethical standards, clearly outlining the behavioral norms and professional ethics that staff must comply with.

Social Collaboration and Talent Cultivation: Collaborated with the Macao SAR Commission Against Corruption to launch the "With Sincerity, With Creativity - CCAC x Tertiary Institutions Integrity and Creativity Series" anti-corruption public service short video project, extending the anti-corruption commitment to social practice and talent cultivation.
