Looking at the world today, we are in the midst of a profound change unseen in a century, which is reshaping the way people live. Technology is changing with each passing day, but with it comes the massive use of global resources, which has had a serious impact on and damaged the ecological environment. As citizens of the world, we have the responsibility to place high-quality economic development and social progress within the endless avenue of the earth's life. As educators, we have the responsibility to integrate the ecological environment into education and teaching, study green low-carbon practice pathways, and disseminate the concept of ecological environmental protection.
As a comprehensive university, Macau University of Science and Technology has been committed to building a green and low-carbon campus. Since the concept of the zero-carbon campus goal has taken root in M.U.S.T., we have strived to build an excellent training base for sustainable development of talents, which not only focuses on solid basic theoretical teaching, but also emphasizes scientific practice, and is positioned to cultivate internationalized high-quality scientific research talents and green innovative technology talents with multidisciplinary cross-disciplinary backgrounds and international visions who can serve the development of the country and society.
As a result, M.U.S.T. has established a Sustainable Development Committee with the purpose of building a green and low-carbon campus, striving to achieve zero carbon emissions on campus, and is committed to promoting the transformation of the campus from low-carbon, near-zero carbon to zero carbon, so that the campus of M.U.S.T. will become a model of eco-environmental protection and sustainable development. We will integrate the concept of sustainable development into all aspects of education, transportation, and construction on campus, make full use of energy and materials, expand a variety of community activities inside and outside the campus, and earnestly carry out the practice of green and low-carbon on campus.
We have implemented intensive, complex and energy-saving measures in the areas of campus greening, building design, and energy utilization, carried out campus energy consumption surveys, and conducted real-time tracking and accurate analysis of campus energy consumption data. By accelerating the application of technologies such as mobile Internet, Internet of Things, cloud computing, and big data in the fields of campus teaching, scientific research, and logistics, we will realize the intelligence and dynamics of energy management, promote the green development of universities, improve quality, efficiency, transformation and upgrading, and actively respond to and practice the country's "double carbon" goals. At the same time, we will promote public ecological and environmental protection education in Macao, Chinese mainland and even the world, promote the transformation and application of green low-carbon knowledge achievements, and contribute to the sustainable implementation of the sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
We will continue to support the sustainable development of the green campus and showcase our innovative achievements in building a sustainable campus to all teachers, students, alumni and the community at M.U.S.T. In the future, we will actively seek sustainable partners in the region, across the country and internationally, build a sustainable campus cooperation platform, and create a more brilliant future together!
